At first blush, the new No Drag Mach 5 doesn’t look like much; a low-profile hard bag with maybe room for a small t-shirt, some water and a laptop. But flip over the weather-resistant, high grade molded exterior PU shell, unzip the clevely hidden back panel (took me a couple of minutes to figure it out) and behold the cavernous cargo stash. OK, so cavernous might be a tad hyperbolic, but over 20 liters of carrying capacity (when expanded) is nothing to sneeze at. Hell, it’s way more room than you’ll find in a Road King saddlebag.
Trick compartments and sections abound within, including an organization panel, a laptop sleeve, a fleece-lined smartphone protective pouch, a helmet carry strap, and my fave of all—a padded helmet visor compartment. There are even a couple of dedicated straps for shoe storage; handy for when you're itching to swap out the riding kicks for Keds. All that compartmentalization has forced me to become more organized, which is a good thing, plus the Mach 5 is super comfy too—with a padded back panel, a minimum of loose fabric and hanging straps, and a unique shoulder gasket that conforms to your body. This bag also gets bonus points for being hydration-ready, having a removable hip belt, and boasting reflective safety piping. For all its stealthy, low-profile design, the 20.5-inch tall, 3.7 lb. No Drag is pretty clearly ready for serious journeys, too. -AC
