Husqvarna’s 401 concept was one of the most exciting bikes we saw last year. Once they announced it was going into production, we all had our doubts about how much they would change to pinch pennies and fit the general market, but they have not let us down. Honestly, the production models of the Vitpilen and Svartpilen look just as good as the concepts, and we can’t wait to ride them both.
As Husqvarna is owned by KTM, it is no surprise that the new bike is based off of the same platform as the Duke 390. The styling, however, is the most defining and radical part of the Svartpilen. A unibody design and tank-mounted rack give this bike a utilitarian, minimal, and futuristic look all at the same time. No bike that has come out in years has been so aggressively different in design, except maybe the Honda NM4, but that's a whole barrel of monkeys we don't want to open.
