Over the last few weeks, British tire manufacturer Avon Tyres has been touting the, er, rollout of its latest rubber, the new Cobra Chrome tire (or “tyre,” as they call it). The Brits say the new Chrome, a replacement for the popular Cobra range, sports improved longevity and more fitment options than ever.
Naturally there’s “an advanced construction design,” though we don’t know all the details except that the Cobra Chrome aims to deliver improved “stability and durability in all conditions,” with the promise of precise feel and tire feedback. But we do know the Chrome’s new snakeskin tread pattern provides a 5-percent larger footprint on the road to increase grip. The new tire also claims to improve tread life by 10 percent compared to the previous Cobra. Enhanced compounds are also said to imbue the Cobra Chrome with “excellent wet braking and handling properties.”
With available rear tire sizes of up to 23 inches in diameter and widths of up to 330mm, the new range can be had in a wide variety of specifications and sizes to cover all kinds of cruisers, tourers and custom bikes. There’s 14 white sidewall options available for the Cobra Chrome, which means a lot of riders will be able to rock a totally individualistic look. All variants sport a stylish Cobra-fied design with a snakeskin look and embossed Cobra head logo on the tread edge.
The Cobra Chrome is available from Avon now.
