Very few people spend as much time in the saddle as motorcycle cops. They're out there everyday taking huge risks to increase their mobility, and decrease their response time. These guys are amazing riders. Traffic Officers from all over Southern California came to Huntington Beach State Park today to compete in a series of challenges to find out who is really the best.
A group of riders and instructors showed up last night to set up the courses. They have been designed to be incredibly challenging, and they absolutely were. Most of the riders could not complete the courses without touching a cone, and were therefor disqualified. All of the riders with zero errors then went on to the "Slow Race" section of the course. This was two sections of straight cones, with an elbow in the middle that riders had to cross as slowly as possible. The rider with zero errors on the course, and the longest time in the slow race, takes the first prize.
Up next is the Top Gun competition. Riders pair up and have to try to ditch the one behind them by riding more challenging maneuvers, or pausing and halting the bike for longer than the rider behind you can before putting a foot down. There was some absolutely amazing riding out there today and a great turnout to support local law enforcement.
